Kyoto Part 1

At last im going to talk about Kyoto.

Kyoto Tower.

The Kyoto JR station is like a huge shopping mall with Isetan, The Cube and The Porta. Our favourites are at the basement (okay food basment) and the restaurants levels.

There are alot of bakeries with cakes and breads that tasted as good as it looked.

and the thing about Japan food basements is that sample portions are not like in singapore, but is bigger than bite-sized =D ang they let me take pictures of them. Some of them even placed the food nicely for me to take.

The mochi here doesnt just come in the shape of round but also flat triangular shaped.

The skin is very delicately soft and the soya powder doesnt overwhelm. We tasted quite a few mochi in Japan but the most special one got to be in Daimaru in Tokyo, which the mochi fillings are cake-like and really very nice which i forgotten to take picture of LOL. I was having it to myself when stupid Tang took up the whole seat in the cyber cafe to sleep and i was almost falling LOL

A whole level for ramen.

The japanese must be very health conscious or weight conscious because most of the restaurants have calories counted for you to make a better(?) choice.

We settled at this tonkatsu restaurant and we didnt regret it. Oh and there's no calorie count here.HAHAHAHA because if you go to the food basement you will find out that one tonkatsu has 980 calories thats why they dun dare to put HAHAHHAHHAHA

The tonkatsu was excellent. The meat wasnt dry, crumbs crispy not oily and the pork cutlets was just as good. It put the tonkatsu in Sushi Tei to shame. Its even better than the tonkatsu in Tampopo. The miso soup was tasty not too salty. And free flow of rice, miso soup and salad!

It was a very satisfying meal indeed. and another thing i like about japan restaurants is that there is no service charge that doesnt mean the service isnt good, in fact its better than some restaurants in Singapore. And the tax is already included in the price. Makes accounting easier.

We came out and saw the polices in Kyoto performing. Must be some police day.

My kyoto favourite bakery at Isetan. I bought these 3 for the next day breakfast and immediately regreted not buying more.

so i wanted to get it the next day but it was so late and i was worried that it has closed so i ran for it T_____T

That day was the start of Gion festival and they have night fair along the roads which were closed for the event.

Corn grilled with soya sauce.

Rough and hard ice drizzled with grape syrup.

This grilled squid was very fresh and chewy but the portion was very big and we got a bit sick of it. Think of the tonkatsu dinner we just ate.

Their tako pachi is really nice! the sotongs were so big that it was half out and its just like xiao long bao in the sense that its the soup but here its the juice of the sotong!

I got the longan ones and the juiciness of the fruit was retained.

i watched The Dark Knight for the second time yesterday and it still rock my socks as much as my cineleisure caramel popcorn and mango passionfruit hagen das combo ( which is the main reason why i wanted to watch dark knight again wtf )

Heath Ledger did more than just brilliantly as The Joker. I love him. His wagging tongue and licking lips, his scars stories, wild hand gestures and eye rolling. The way he looked Batman into his eyes and told him that he completed him. In such earnest sincerity. Its like God and Satan isnt it? Order and Chaos.

here's disneysea for you.

To get to disneysea you need to take their resort monorail to get there unlike disneyland which all you need is to walk from the JR station.

To take picture with this, you need to queue up T_______T so i just take a shot of this and move on.

This free fall ride was damn good alittle too short though. The effects was shockingly amazing. It was one of our favourite and we went fot it thrice. Falling in pitch darkness was damn exciting. Too bad the japanese didnt understand english or else they will understand what Tang said once the darkness fell on us. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA he damn gay lah "THIS IS GODDAMN EVIL MAN FUCKING EVIL!" Tang said in quivering voice. HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

ohh the roller coaster. its was okay i supposed. 360degrees turn but not really exciting.

it was a rather weird week for me.

of journey to the centre of the earth ride of lost heart of too much jap food of eason's songs and a phone call of next year today.

yeah i know i blog so slowly. SOOOOOOO slowly. i haven even talk about disneysea let alone Gion festival in Kyoto, Sapporo Beer Garden and White chocolate factory at Sapporo and their big night fair (ohh my genhis khan its so orgasmically good), Furano's lavender fields where we had 4 ice cream cones that day. Otaru's Canal T_____T nice but its a canal still wtf, Our freaking finger licking table licking great crab at Hakodate.

i know.

maybe next year i will finish blogging.

so its time for disneyland and disneysea.

first to disneyland me and Tang were very excited!! Before we buy our tickets we went into this disneyland and disneysea shop and wanna to get the mickey ears and gloves.

this was one of the ears i put on Tang's head 'cause i wanna take picture of him also. and it looked very funny hahahahahhaha

i dun believe i cant fit into this pair of gloves wtf.

we bought 2 day passport each one day for disneyland and the next day for disneysea. And i got mine the junior one because i remember what ah han told me about her tour agency hahahahahaha. Tang scared lah so he got the adult one for 10000yen thats S$131 and mine is 8800yen.

This year is Disneyland's 25th anniversary. that explains this.

Caramel popcorn very similar to Cathay Cineleisure ones. Warm and crunchy. Real caramel taste.

Tokyo the expensive city

i will do a little summary on japan.

Least favourite city: Tokyo
Duration of travel from Kyoto to Sapporo: 14 hours
Number of train change from Kyoto to Sapporo: 4. Kyoto- Tokyo, Tokyo-Hachinohe, Hachinohe- Hakodate, Hakodate- Sapporo
Favourite Place: Shiroi Koibito Park at Sapporo oh and Daimaru.
Things we did to save money( accidentally or not):
#1 buying the junior 2 day passport for disneyland and disneysea
#2 buying child ticket for the disney resort train
#3 when took the Nozomi train that is not cover in the JR pass, we sneaked out of the station successfully when the train officers were talking to some passengers ( thats S$150plus per pax)
#4 When the bathroom in Kyoto accommodation is coin-operated, we brought in 3 bottles of water to bathe instead of paying 100yen for 15mins of water.HAHAHAHAHAHHA
#5 buying 1 day subway pass for child in Sapporo and Kyoto
#6 i pulled Tang into the Shiroi Koibito Park museum at Sapporo not knowing that we need to pay 1200yen per person as admission fee. Tang only told me there IS admission fee that we need to pay after we came out.
#7 koping the transparent umbrella from Sapporo Hotel (300yen)
#8 the huge fried rice we ordered in Asahikawa that they didnt charge us for it 900yen
#9 the plate of yakitori we ordered in tokyo that they didnt charge us for it 500yen.

let me start with tokyo. Tokyo sucks. Warm, Humid and their bloody station has no elevators and stupid Tokyo station so damn big and disorganised wtf wtf

i didnt try krispykremes here because it doesnt look very good here in japan. but very long queues all the same.

This is the place where we had our first ramen in japan. Very rich pork broth soup that tasted very well with lots of seame seeds. i didnt have the picture with me which is in my handphone which i left it in the hotel in hakodate T___________T and waiting for them to send it back to me now.

There shibuya 109.

its very big and crowded like our orchard road here where teenagers like to dress up as ah lians and ah bengs. if you took a wrong turn u might end up at a district where there are love hotels all those zup zup places wtf.

Tokyo do have nice bakeries. When i was there i thought they were the best i realised i was wrong when i reached kyoto and hokkaido.

i taste test them and when i reached kyoto and hokkaido and tried theirs. I realised the pasteries and breads in tokyo put more effort on the appearnace rather than the taste. all bakeries in japan baked their breads so beautifully but why didnt we have that in singapore?? all these bakeries at tokyo food fair.

We woke up at 4am and headed over to Tsukiji Fish Market the next day. in japan at 4am it is already as bright as when its 7.30am in Singapore.

strange looking stuff that look horribly like to hearts.

It took a combined strength of two men to cut up one fish.

actually we didnt went there early enough. if not,we would have able to see the Tuna Auction Area in action T_________T We wanted to try their ultra fresh seafood so we went to the streets of eatries in the market area.

and we decided on this super long queue place called The Big Sushi. we waited for 40mins for it. I told Tang it better be good. And it better be. Its bloody the most expensive meal in our Japan trip.

I ordered a set of 7 sushis, plus egg roll and miso soup for 2100yen. Tang ordered the premium 7+1 sushi of his choice plus egg roll and miso soup for 3700 yen.

The sushi here were certainly very fresh. Even the sea urchin sushi that i hate tasted surprising ok for me. The unagi here was very soft and crumbles in your mouth. The chef is very friendly though i only said "sumi mase" to him for the bill.and laughed at me because i didnt know how to continue from there. HAHAHAHAHAH

The shop is so popular, queues are so long, people queuing up could only watch wistfully at us eating HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

The streets near Tsukiji Market has alot of stuff too, selling fishcakes, nuts, breads, fruits etc etc.

where we bought very nice breads. though doesnt look so HAHAHAHA

my last night in japan, time for eason's concert!

im back in tokyo with no accommdation booked since im going to fly tomorrow morning anyway. so we took up this lonely planet's suggestion for overnight stay.

here we are at Gran Cyber Cafe Bogus at Shibuya 109 with free flow of cone ice cream, soft drinks, tea, cocoa, coffee, fruit juices and cheap snacks. Even got shower room here. Lots of comics, PS2 games, dvds, internet!! only 1200￥per person for 6hours!

initally we wanted to stay overnight at the airport but the last train was gone wtf T____T so we reserve seats for the earliest train to narita tomorrow which is 6.30am thats means we gotta stay overnight at tokyo the city i hate T____T

seriously.

We wanted to indulge in a good dinner tonight at tokyo but the prices here are ridicuiously expensive.

let me show you.

this is my super tonkatsu dinner at isetan level 13 restaurant floor in kyoto. The batter was perfect crumbs nicely, large portion and finger licking good. Free flow of miso soup, rice and salad. And i wonder why the miso soup in singapore isnt half as nice as this one.

the tonkatsu was so good that we went back to eat it for dinner again in kyoto T_____T this, with free flow of rice, miso soup and salad only 1050￥. Tang ate 3 bowls of rice and 3 bowls of miso soup. im not so brave only 1 bowl of rice and 3 bowls of miso soup wahahahhaha.

and this was what we had for dinner just now at tokyo at kitchen street tokyo station.

a chicken and egg rice bowl with rice soaked in sho-yu making it too saly for my liking. a small cup of miso soup those zup kind and abit of pickles. No free flow of rice or soup. Like that 1050yen. Its bloody the best deal we could find in tokyo wtf. we dont have 10000yen to spare for abit of grilled beef. its all so fuding expensive there T________T

oh this was wad we ordered too for dinner. Yakitori chicken for 500yen. Tasted quite bland if you ask me. But wtf they forgot to charge us for this HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. dont why always liddat. 500 yen saved. money is money lah hahahahaah.

Tokyo is humid, noisy, messy, fast-paced.

The only 2 things i like about tokyo is probably..

ahh Tang was complaining the 2 days were the days that he ate the most popcorns: caramel, chocolate, honey, black pepper, coconut, strawberry and um i forgot.

And 2 weeks when he ate the most breads.

Sapporo of Hokkaido seriously is the city of freaking good breads and pastries followed by Kyoto and maybe Tokyo.

Furano of Asakikawa of Hokkaido damn good melon bun that we ate 3 in a day and not forgetting milk and melon ice cream cones, lavender ice cream cones!

Boring Otaru of Hokkaido where we ate sea urchin ice cream, beer ice cream and squid ink ice cream.

and bowls of ramen which strange enough all tasted differently different noddles texture and taste and soup.

Hands down, Sapporro is my favourite place.

This is going to be a super random entry.

But because me and Tang just ate 1 bowl of tempura soba, curry soba and 1 bowl of miso charsiew ramen, 5 gyozas and 1 giant plate of chinese fried rice just becaue it looked very interesting with white foams covering it all just for dinner, we practically collapse in the streets of Asahikawa due to our inflated stomachs and we couldnt walk straight or think straight and started singing fo kua and shun zi's songs loudly (maybe influenced by the street artistes we saw singing and dancing like no body's business).

nah.

i just want to emphasize that we are really very very full to the point of bursting.

i was squatting down in the middle of the streets vomitting and its all due to gutton Tang's fault oh anw because we added the plate of fried rice to our earlier orders THEY FORGOT TO CHARGE US FOR IT!!!!=D 900￥ WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Thats $10.70 ok.

but i guess thats why we ended up foaming at our mouths because of it wtf.

my weekend was spent being a very professional personal shopper cum stylist for Tang. I felt so accomplished after throwing 6 tops for him to try on at vivo city zara man ( probably the only sane outlet where the others are having crazy messy sales) and his purchases of four of them. Zara man at vivo has the newest collections. Oh why he needs clothes? because his trip not only gave him memories but also mud-spattered clothes.

and also of satisfying my random food craves like..

heartwarming grandma's italian tomato and mozzarella cheese quiches.

french tarishes.

creme bulee.

mango sago.

and disappointing egg tarts and po lo bao.

imperial treasure.

my lovely glutinous rice in lotus leaf, meat and vegetable dumplings, xiao long baos that i dun really have a crave for and a tad too oily sheng jian bao.

most importantly, they sold out my runny yolk rich custard buns.

how can they!

and not even crystal jade sold them out too!

turned out its allright because the bread pudding at the line and chocolate factory certainly win this! and look at the stripy green-black cloth! thats tang. back from his trip, he is as deprived as me wtf. he said the bread pudding at fullerton chocolate buffet was the best but i couldnt remember la.

this was my melted marshmallows crepes.

gooey melted marshmallows would be better if its warm. then it would be perfect with the ice cream!

didnt i say that im very deprived? i just was not satisfied with only two desserts.

i love love love the banana bread dipped in the chocolate almost as good as banana in chocolate. creamy sweet banana and chocolate is the best combination ever.

yet i feel chocolate fountain at the line is still the very best.

it has been a bad month up to now at least. i feel dejected- dejected about unachieved goals, empty promises, wistful wishes, and the way time could possibly crawls.

Twice, i went to work on a saturday ( OT means higher pay) for 7 hours then rushed for tuition that ended at 9pm. i wouldnt abolish my morning 6.45am run for thats when i believed the time is truly mine. And im having tuition at the same time tomorrow. To taste the sweetness of holidays bitterness is the only barrier to cross, hopefully.

Possibly because of the fatigue or lack of time, i have this urge to break away from everyone. i cant. i wanted to get my peanut chocolate from candy empire or to hug my bag of cineleisure cathay caramel popcorn in the cinema. maybe not anymore- make that just alittle time spend in the hook of elbow and enjoy my bag of peanut chocolate from candy empire. i couldnt help but think how the simplicity of that is beautiful. much more beautiful than i ever thought of it before. not any other special kinds no i dun wan to preorder.

I changed my flight departure and return date ( bloody hectic. sia lines engaged internet lag tang threatened not to fly if its not A380. after a zillion failed sia calls, hoping against hope that there are still seats for A380 on sat after seeing that they are full on fri, cursing the borrowed office internet- I DID IT!)

I got to leave straight after my last day of work (maybe alittle exaggerated but you get the idea)

I will have to rush for this straight after im back in singapore. Like playing the amazing race wtf.

I will be 231bucks in debt ( WHY WHY WHY IS IT SO EXP!?)

BUT WE ARE GOING! Promises we made to attend his concert if we ever got the chance to and HERE IT IS!!!! 4 of us ( three eason fans and one very on mianxian) will be there for the E God!

this feeling is like a familiar old taunting friend. i thought i would have outgrown it alittle, but not. there are things that i have yet to learn AND remember. im feeling sorry and anger, in the guilty sense of the word. it all depends in my own hands, im in total control but what if im falling? will my efforts fall apart together into a shameful and embarrassing heap and i find myself back where i am now?

and now im back to where i were, daydreaming about days to be spend licking messily at dripping ice cream cone, laughing unnecessarily and excessively. i never really think about it but i never really like chocolate flavored ice cream. Dinner at Marche since alvina and xinrong are uber-broke as i was told. But the food there is always good, provided that you eat them straight after you got them. Food wont taste their best if left stone cold which was what we did yesterday T____T dear brian was late for 1.5hr due to some family thingy and he graciously, foot the bill. HAHAHAHAHA nah actually i kept telling him "be a man and do the right thing," so poor brian got to pay. a reunion after 2 years ok lah *consoles brain.

anw if you are wondering why didnt i climb up the marche cow as i always do, its because it just rained and brain would scold wtf HAHAHHAHAHAHA.

i just did it. Book my tickets. I still cant believe i chose Japan over Paris. But if i choose the latter i could barely survive there for 5 days. Me and Juan wanted to go Hong Kong since Tang is cantonese but he didnt want T_______T

here i am talking about canyoning at vietiam because got nothing to blog T___T no la actually also because i blogged about canyon like one sentence earlier.

Canyoning is basically repelling down a waterfall as i was told. I think this guy is the france guy they met on the way. fast friends.

i would like to say that i have used to my current 7-day work lifestyle. Maybe part of me do but part of me dont. no thats not one of those either yes or no question those either you are dead or you are not kind but somethings while the others dont, have greys in between the black and white. because of working i have almost zero social life but thats ok with me. i actually thought i have lost the ability to socialise and becoming volermort who likes to operate alone. Vitasoy and beancurb become the only things that worth spending time with.

i havent been eating well too. junk here and there all day. and it isnt doing very good to my mood.

thoughts of acids seem to bite into my stomach holes and i dont know how this unsettling feeling come about.

this will worth it, i told myself over and over again.

i was very happy and cheerful that day and thats my aim everyday.

I discovered another fashion blog that i really like, Jak&Jil where else can you find such closed up pictures of shoes? shoes shoes and shoes. But look at this. Is you are trying to tell me this is fashion i think you are plain dumb. Whats the point of them other than trying to break your feet arch on them? I just opened my email to find out Tang just emailed me from vietiam! he sent me some pictures and complained that his friend's appetite is really small (eh of cos lah compared to two of us, we put even cow's stomach to shame ok wtf). I realised. When I am listening to Joey's du zhao I thought of Juan how we walk in the streets near PJ and sing all the way. I remembered when I was reading a Shen Xue's particular book, i was listening to FIR's si xin de li you and that bloody book made me cried my eyes out. And whenever i listened to that song now, I felt like crying T___________T. and today i was listening to Eason's songs i thought of Tang and i realised i miss him T__________T so weird leh no one to discuss about food. who know food better than we do!

yeah now that Tang's not in town and I got to save while working 7 days a week. This means no good food for the time being! maybe for a short while Hahahhahahaha.

They claimed they have the best briskets in town so we got to try it. Do you realise? They are all aged men.

The noodles were very springy and the soup was flavorful i could tell radish is one of the main ingredient. The beef briskets was alittle bland in taste and tad bit to hard to chew. Overall i would said it was very good though i do like the noodles and the soup.

Yesterday's mothers' day celebration was just lunching at Din Tai Feng. I never like them much as i would preferred imperial treasure any day. But its not the point at all the point is to have a nice lunch with everyone in the family and my mum will be turning into a mountain tortoise soon if we dun accompany her out. Jacob's cuteness made even the oily fried rice tasted heaven.

He was very excited to sit on something he never sit before that he kept screeching.

I have no idea what was he staring at but probably he was looking at some people munching on food that he cant have.

He looked as though he was trying to be some big shot folding his arms but failed. Jacob cannot lah too cute.

Staring at my mum wondering why everyone is eating except for him. He probably was pleading my mum to give him a bite or something. Hahaha quite poor thing to have a whole table of food in front of you but not to touch any of them.

Thats him sleeping halfway. Dun understand why he was so tired when he did no walking and we did all the carrying. Jacob is a pig wtf.

When we were buying ice creams from an old man in front of Paragon, I noticed his wrinkled face that speaks of age and his trembling hands which are causing him to have difficulty in cutting the ice cream. where's his children? i couldnt help wondered for he looked so old and fragile to be selling ice cream to earn for a living.

Yet once we gotten our hands onto them we tend to overlook, forgetting the reasons why we longed them with such burning desire at the point of time. But as much as the times when i might sound ungrateful, unappreciative i never forgot why i want those things.that sixty cents red bean ice cream that tasted as great as ben&jerry's, that colorful windmills that made me looked like some senseless person or playing a game of volleyball using a balloon. today is a ruddy tiring day. Tang need to buy all the stuff needed for his 2 months adventure when he is flying off on tuesday dawn T______T

but must fuel ourselves before all those shopping. It is basically a potatoes and sausages theme since we were at Vivo gotta settle at Marche.

Roasted Potato with bacons, mashed potato and snail meat with rosemary

The snail meat with rosemary sausage was good but i was too famished and hunger clouded my judgment. Nevertheless, this sausage is better than those in corduroy cafe but i even think that it is better than the sausages in brotzeit.

Definitely better than the ones in KFC. I was starving lah. Cant say much 'cause i basically stuff everything in my mouth.

The potato tasted a little different. I wouldnt say it tasted bland but anyway i am too tired i cant remember how it tasted like now T____T

we went cycling at east coast on monday and the bicycles we rented were damn cocked up. The chain of Tang's bike came off and i'm the one who fixed it apparently because "well you are the engineer," yea im the engineer wtf. and it bloody came off 3 times! and mine one time darn it what kind of shit bikes were these

and look this was our main motive for going cycling. Cycle to 328 Katong laksa stall at east coast road. Many rank this stall as the best katong laksa in Singapore. Apparently many celebrities think so too, you can see the many photos pasted outside the stalls of celebrities with the lady boss.

The laksa gravy was distinctly different from other laksa. More to the sweet side, but i prefer my laksa gravy to be rich and thick. Just like how zhen shan mei laksa is like. But maybe people who are watching their cholesterol level will prefer this style of laksa instead. *Snigger

This is me fixing Tang's bicycle again because it came off again as we were on our way back to the beach. Stupid oil damn difficult to wash off. We had two glasses each so its already $84. I told Tang how stupid it was not to buy the whole bottle instead because its $87 only $3 difference! why are we so dumb! Yesterday we found Dr Loosen Riesling 2006 only $41 at the organic supermarket! Next time buy the wine and bring there instead. See so smart.

Outdoor sitting definitely much better than sitting in an air conditioned place. Nice breeze ruffling our hair and we get to see people struggle to run to burn calories when we were relaxing and consuming calories wtf.

Steak Tartar with toasted country bread and traditional garnishes $22

I read it from Chubby Hubby that they have the best steak tartar in singapore. Steak tartar is a raw dish, perhaps I rather unable to appreciate steak tartar it tasted alittle bland to me. The mixed charcuterie will be a better choice for people like me.

Roasted duck with orange jus and braised greens

I cant say much about this dish because this is Tang's main course. He rather disliked the bitterness taste from the orange jus but the mashed potato was so different from others. Light and creamy. The minced meat was still as good as last time.

The ketchup and chilli.

Garage burger with aged cheddar, zuni pickles, housemade bacons with handcut fries.

I ordered this again because i have been dreaming of it everything i heard the word burger ever since I first had it when i was there the first time. The fries was rather different from that time i first had it. It had been better then. Perhaps i was ~~drunk~~ sleepy it didnt feel as awesome as the first time i had it. and i ruddy not drunk ok!

These i swear are the best carrot walnut cake and chocolate truffle cake in singapore. No make it the best cakes in singapore. Beats The Chocolate Factory or Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie or Blue Magnolia or Corduroy cafe or even fullerton chocolate buffet or the line or anywhere lah. Even Sun with moon's best dessert tofu cheesecake cannot win this. Alvina you want dessert? Go cedele next door only.

The carrot cake is moist and the frosting is not too sweet but perfect with crunchy walnuts. And just look at the truffle cake its just like a large stab of chocolate bar.

Time for the best pork knuckle.

At brotzeit.

This is the best prok knuckle in singapore. At many other places' pork knuckles example at Paulaner, their skin and meat were roasted till too hard and difficult to chew. Brotzeit's is different. Skin crunchy at the right degree meat is tender and the fats is oh-my-so-soft kind. Look at the picture, fats are transparent and so damn soft! We went there 5 times and brotzeit never disappoints.

They are both unfithered beer and so it means they are not bitter!

Our first time to a korean restaurant and we were quite impressed.

See they even have those kind of seats.

The flat korean metal chopsticks and spoon. Using flat chopsticks could be a little awkward at first but after a while its quite all right. Anw you wont be needing them much later.

All these little appetisers are actually free. Kim chi, cockles and some veggies. Can actually ask them to refill for you for free!

Since this is a bbq restaurant, grilling is one of their mains. You can request them to grill in front of you or at the other table or you can even request to grill on your own.

Ox Tongue $30

We ordered ox tongue because we are very adventurous wtf. We requested that guy to grill in front of us. Even though this staff couldnt speak much English ( he is a korean) but he is actually quite pleasant.

There will be a plate of lettuce to wrap your meat up and stuff it into your mouth HAHAHA. The ox tongue didnt have a very strong meaty taste but was fragrant and a little chewy.

Steamed pork bellies with red wine $45

This is actually not on the main menu. I actually asked the manager about this dish bcause i couldnt find it on the menu. This dish is on the special menu. dammit.

Look at the amount of onions. There are alot of pork bellies too. Too many. This dish actually serves two person.But its definitely enough for 4! Not that we are complaining though.

The pork belly, though the fats were not the melt-in-your-mouth kind but was still soft and a little chewy. The red wine sauce was awesome.

Eating it liddat is damn satisfying great! A Must order dish all right! But eating them can be a messy affair especially for me wtf.

Beancurb soup (comes with rice) $16

Its almost like steamed egg. Heartwarming to eat it with rice. I like it alot. Seeing Tang ordered a bowl of rice for himself, I even want to ordered another bowl of rice after finishing. But Tang gave me his unfinished rice he dying being too full. Stuffed to death. HAHHAHAHAHHA so lousy. who asked you ate 4 plates of kim chi T____T

After eating, they will serve this iced mango tea for free. Quite refreshing.

now brain since u dunno about them. This is a little review on sun with moon.

Kyushu Fair at Sun with moon.

Nagasaki-styled braised Kurobuta pork.

The fats are soft as i expected of sun with moon. The sauce is sweet. Maybe because this is the 2nd time i ate this dish i definitely felt more impressed during the first time.

Miyazaki-styled fired chicken with vinegar tartar sauce.

This is a disappointing dish. The chicken is fresh but the skin is soggy. But i must say this is the very first dish that we found fault after visiting them so many times.

Ramen with Pork Bone stock, homemade charsiew and pickled ginger.

I like the soup! sweet and light. Noodles are very smooth and charsiew melt in your mouth.but the hokkaido ramen we ate last time during the hokkaido fair fares better.

Nagasaki-styled noodles with gravy.

This is like a zhi zhar but with big crunchy fresh prawns, fresh scallops and sotong. I like it actually.

I said it before i will say it now again. Never go sun with moon without making reservation a day before. Even if you call them early in the day 'sorry we are full'. Go there only got lousy seats T____T

Finished my first paper today, I was glad I stay quite alert throughout the day with only 4 hours of sleep. It was so horrible when I woke up this morning. I struggled to open my eyes just then a migraine attacked me. ARRGH. Exams are just like a marathon just that when finishing the former its more of a relief feeling.

It rained yesterday with no warning, not even greying sky. The sun was still glaring and suddenly it started to fall. Caught me totally unaware when I was just about to reach home. They look like little specks in the picture but they do hit quite hard for such little things. Sloppily, they trickled down my chin. I was expecting them to drip but they sort of stayed for a brief moment. Hanging loosely like coins just before they fall from your fingers. For a few seconds I thought maybe time has stopped. I realised it was all my wild imagination.

Enough about the moist carrot walnut cake and the rich chocolate truffle cake there. This time is about their main course.And we were not disappointed.

Chicken Tarrogen-blah thingy.

Tang ordered this and turned out the herb taste is too overpowering. He just ordered that coz he heard 'chicken' T___T

Apple Pumpkin

I ordered this and Tang raised his eyebrows at me, "thats a vegetarian soup". Yeah la. Not adventurous at all and resent anything that sound healthy. Turned out the soup is good! Refreshing and the taste of the sweetness form the pumpkin and apple made it really appetizing. Hahaha and Tang preferred my soup than his. See healthy sounding can be taste good too!

Beef Bacon Works with side salad- Grilled Beef Burger with Bacon strips dressed with horopito mustard sauce, onion beetroot chutney, harvati cheese, mustard and lettuce.

You can choose your own breads for the sandwich. I had mine without the mayo and tomato. It was great! The beef patty was really flavorful the bread has a distinct taste and crispy, bacon strips crunchy and tasty.

Great place. Perfect place next time if we couldnt get a place at Sun with Moon (just next to it)

i was there only for its desserts in 2006. This time, I was determined to have the main course there!

foie gras burger

The buns were special in a way that it is light and crispy. Juicy and foie gras was... I love foie gras i love foie gras i LOVE FOIE GRAS!!!6666 Need me say more? but i'm exaggerating as usual wtf. hahahhahaha.

erm. This is pork loin, sage and thyme with caramelised sweet potato.

The pork loin was dry, a tad bit too hard. I was fighting with the pork using my knife and fork. My jaw was tired of all the chewing and my hands were tired of all the fighting. The actual reason why i ordered this was because of the caramelised sweet potato which turned out to be disappointing.

devil's food cake.

This Marmalade Pantry's Devil's Food cake is on the list of Singapore Top 50 Cakes in The Straits Times. They described it as the chocoholics must have but its not that rich and chocolaty really. A better chocolaty cake is Cedele's Chocolate Truffle Cake which I wondered why it didnt make it to the list. Its like eating a whole chocolate bar sigh. Juan, you ate that before too. But i got to say Cedele's Carrot Walnut Coke which made it to the list, deserved it. Ok, back to what i'm saying, Devil's Food Cake isnt that good.

For a fleeting, few frightening moments, I realised I have forgotten how u look like. There, I was frantically sieving through my mind, looking for that mental photograph in my memory, my mind, my everything. However, whatever vague fragments of memories that provided a fleeting moment of relief were quickly dissolved into the puddle of water like some stupid chemical reaction. Slipping through my fingers like broken lace. So blank. So nothing. Just as though someone broke into my mind and stolen away my memories. Panic started to bubble over me. Was it this feeling when your arm got numb and it just felt like some alien appendage onto my body? What if it no longer come back?

It dawned upon me that my brain is rejecting some of my memories just like how an immune system will reject a foreign organ. So there is some internal fighting/ struggling in me. Does this mean that the brain has won?

but whoever won, matters not. I am strong. I am fearless. Or maybe not but most of the time i dun feel fear anyway.I am not afraid.

When I closed my eyes again, there u were. This time I drank every detail I could remember of u because someone said in my mind, Carpe diem. Yes. whoever won, matters not. Here I am seizing it all the way.

I was wondering when would I really have the time/money to travel through like half the world. Half the world and I will be satisfied. Reading NicoleKiss blog who determined to travel the world or world conquer she called it, I was awed. She is in Laos now. But tink how much money/time this will take. She probably have to work alittle in these countries as she explores. I am awed, envious and applauded for her courage. Really need some courage isnt it?

Even Tang is going to backpack travelling with his friends. They are going to comb through Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Macau and i forgot where else from May to June.

Countries that I will not miss out if I even go world-travel:

Best restaurant in Singapore

Its time for me to blog about...

A super excellent restaurant, the best i ever tasted. Wine Garage is just located beside Brewerkz, facing the water at Clarke Quay. One very interesting thing is its more of outdoor seating than indoor. Most of the outdoor tables were taken while the indoor were pretty empty. Luckily I had reserved an outdoor table in advance.

All the meat and ingredients are from organic and sustainable agriculture practices. See so healthy.

Sitting outside is a great choice. Very windy and relaxing. It will be nice to just chill and drink wine and eat the free crisps.

Tang's hair was nicely styled before. Because of the wind it looked so noob. HAHAHHAHA

I do not really know what this was. But it was served once we were there. It tasted abit like those Indian herby taste but it was not overpowering. It was free and they will refill it for you.

Riesling, Dr Loosen from Germany

I was never really a fan for wines. But I got to admit, this white wine is light, fruity taste though tad bit too sour. I enjoyed it until it was a little left. That was when it tasted really sour.

Stonier

I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted this. Real light. Not bitter at all!

The wine list like Chubby Hubby said, "awesome". A whole menu dedicated for wines. You will be spoil for choices.

mixed charcuturie with pickles, mustard served with toasted country bread

Premium hams, beef, meat, apple, olives. See the left side? this meat was damn good! Moist and tasty. I really like the beef too. When i first put one piece of the ham whole into my mouth, it was obvious that it is premium. Light and chewy.

Crispy Braised Pork Belly

The pork belly was really crispy. But what was impressive is that though crispy outside, the fats were extremely soft and flavorful. So great!

Wine Garage Burger with aged cheddar and house-made bacon, zuni pickles and hand cut fries

The burger was excellent. E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T. Best i ever tasted. Beef patty was so damn moist and favorful and tender. Cheddar Cheese was melted over the patty to perfection. Bacon was so damn crispy. Everything tasted really great together. Even the fries was soft inside. GREAT.

Service was excellent. Waiters were polite and friendly. When asked for their recommendations, you can tell they really know their menus really well. When the food came, he came over to explain the dishes patiently. Needless to say, the wine and starters he recommended were great. He will come time to time to ensure that everything was great. And not too many times till we irritated lah. When we told him that we will be sharing the burger, they nicely cut it into half when served.

One more thing. NO SERVICE CHARGE. Excellent service but no service charge. Nowadays everywhere also charge it even lousy service one. But here superb service NO 10% CHARGE! +D

Very very happy customer.

Dining here was not cheap, bill came up to be 144bucks. But think again, 3 glasses of wine and 2 starters and 1 main course. Actually it was very reasonable!

Superb ambience, superb service, superb food.

This won't be the last time I will be there.

He sang this song again and again and again (6times?) alternating between chinese and cantonese version . The only person who sang this song for at least 5times in a session is Wee Li Juan. That time when we were cycling at East Coast then we saw some castle-making competition so we wanted to took a shortcut through the grass to take a look. Then you were looking Felicia Chin and Mark Li filming some variety show till you did not realise that I have stopped and almost crash into me T_____T and the whole crew turned to look at us including Felicia Chin and Mark Li yelling us to be careful wtf. i got to run in my heels onto those uneven grass to avoid kena filmed wtf. THEN after that the crew still asked me what happened while SOMEBODY quickly ran away with his bike wtf T___________T

Playing chai quan at marche and u guessed a 7 and a 40 wtf and i took a napkin and aimed at you. Horror of horrors it landed on the table in front of us which seated an auntie with her 2 sons , daughter and maid and the stupid boy kept laughing at me till so loud and even told the mother about me T_______T

When we were competing to see who could kick his/her slippers further at Sentosa and you kicked yours so vigorously that it flew into the bush and you got to run one foot bare to retrieve it HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

someone very smart said what iceskating no need gloves and in the end i had to share my left glove to huh huh huh who?? then look like two idiots liddat.

or that time you asked to spit my popcorn seeds as far as possible in the cinema then it landed into a woman's hair sitting in front of me wtf HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

because you never stop me from taking the yucky-tasting vegeterian sushi that looked interesting at ichiban when we both ate one each we regretted totally. Then i got to arrange the sushi properly and act like nothing happened and put it back wtf. someone quickly pulled me to pay to escape from the 案发现场 wtf

We took a bus and alighted at a stop that was supposedly to be very need Mount Emily. But we walked around asking for directions for 30mins became all sweaty and tired in the end had to take a cab and realised it was not even close! At last we reached there and we realised it was not open for dinner yet still got 2+ hrs to dinner. So we waited there, to be safe we wanted to call to make reservations and they said they were closed that day for a private event! T_________T

Went all the way to Escape because we had 2 free tix and there no panasonic, no pirate's ship, no round crazy rides and the only thing that made us happy is the Ben & Jerry's wtf.

Chocolate buffet at Fullerton

We experienced too many times when we almost die i mean from being too full.

We set a record of eating 3 cakes, 1 hot chocolate, 1 bread puddings at chocolate factory.

Our shock when 6 plates of monstrous serving size of onions booms, cheese sticks and forgot whats were served in front of two of us at Outback Steakhouse. but we finished it all the same.

The worst worst experience is at Vibe, we were having the carnivore buffet almost almost really die.

p/s: i just finished watching episode 5 of malaysia dreamgirl. I only watched it bcoz i read cheesie's blog who is now one of the participants. So Jean pulled out herself, Alison and Natasha eliminated. But the only one girl who i think is model-worthy (think exotic looks and tall, toned bod) is Jay.but why is she one of the bottom 5! Not pretty but definitely striking that stands out. Filipino look alike is supposed to leave but got a chance 'cause Jean pulled out.and Cindy is such a fake whining bitch which the audience probably agreed 'cause she is one of the bottom 5 too!

i think i'm kena possessed by some canto-spirit or something. My favourite cuisine these days is canto food like imperial treasure and chai can ting which i have been eating for over a week.

or maybe just because i'm sort of learning canto now. And i say, very proudly, I know how to say 1 to 10, that i'm hungry, i want rice and you go and die all in canto!!!666 just two days of learning. am i smart or what?

so back to what i was saying, even desserts in imperial treasure is qt nice.

Black gelatinous rice with ice cream

now this sounds interesting. with ice cream. Initally i thought it would be hot black gelatinous rice with cold ice-cream. Eccentric but interesting. But it was served cold T___T. Okay nice but not fantastic.

This is Marks & Spencer 's Triple Belgium Chocolate cereal. Yes with chocolate! i swear i had this in mind before but my mum or anyone else would claim i'm insane. But Marks & Spencer came this out and everyboady said its brilliant T__T. But its VERY VERY NICE! I love the oats crunch (yes oats, sounds healthly but its very crunchy and sweet) and with the chocolate its very addictive.

Seriously. I have no idea what's Roquefort. Is it a kind of spice or vegetable or whatever? Nvm about that but the potato chips are how i like my chips to be. Thick means very crunchy. Crystal Jade: it was good. with mushrooms, shrimps even ma ti that gives the crunchiness.soup tasted like the wanton soup i drank at Old airport road for 2 bucks.

Imperial Treasure: good. like xiao long bao, there is soup inside the dumpling. shrimps too. but the soup tasted weird.

Verdict: Draw.

Ha-kau.Left: Crystal Jade. Right: Imperial Treasure.

Crystal Jade: fresh shrimps. but skin is tad bit too thick.

Imperial Treasure: fresh shrimps oso. skin just nice.

Verdict: Imperial Treasure is the winner.

Gelatinous Rice. Left: Crystal Jade. Right: Imperial Treasure.

Both are soft. But Crystal Jade's tasted abit weird. and got salted egg yolk. Imperial Treasure won coz its just very tasty.

Cream sauce pasta we cooked. We made the sauce from scratch ok! oh fine its Tang who made the sauce. but its so nice because i suggested to let the pasta simmer longer. and the pasta was so nice because of that! And it did not look that nice cause of the plate ok! we are so li hai wtf.

Sunday lunch was spent at Cherry Garden at The Oriental Hotel.

everything here is like ancient China. but the restaurant was abit dark though.

seriously I ate so many different dumplings there till i also got abit confused what i ate and did not eat.

I really like this too! it was good indeed.

Crispy wasabi-aioli prawns topped with fresh mango.

The wasabi taste is very light. the prawns are nicely fired and is so satisfying crunchy.

The red bean pancake is a little bland. The sour plum jelly is good though.

The rest of dim sum i ate i couldn't find their pictures. Like melon soup, more soup, fried eggplant with chicken floss, white chicken meat, xiao long bao, char siew bao, udon in some sauce, more beef, some tofu in some sauce,

roast meat, crispy yam, more dumplings and more dumplings, more meat and many many more.

Basically I ordered at least half the list per page of the menu. for dessert page erm i ordered all of them.

I initially ordered the shanghai fried rice too but one of the staff gave me a look and he said that he was rather worried that we can't finish them all as they do charge for food wastage.

yesterday i had a heated argument with Tang about " Judgment" because his view is that we shouldn't judge people because its inviting people to judge you too. My view is that we do judge everyone even if we are not aware of it. Everything is about judgment right? First impressions? is judgment already. u choose fruits also judge which one looks better. It is something we do all the time just that we are not aware of it.

Then we argued all the way to if the younger generation is more environment-aware and more environment-friendly. Then we were at loggerhead again.

But the most unfinished heated argument is about if companies really mean well when they do good. He claimed yes. He applauded for their intentions. I disagreed because my view is that most of the time its more for their own benefits. if they do not even care if what they did are effective in contributing to the society then how can it even be called as their 'intention' in the first place?its not even an intention le wad.

Prawn dumpling came first and we polished it less than 3mins.

the prawn was fresh!

5 mins later..

most of them came le! feel very happy to be surrounded by food leh!!

fluffy fluffy and soft chai siew bun, the char siew inside very nice!

meat dumpling is very nice like xiao long bao. got soup inside the dumpling! but the soup is not fantastic.

glutinous rice very tasty! *cries wtf too hungry

i cannot say that today is a special day.its as normal as every yesterdays. everyday i have got different questions to ask myself and people around me.

i was wondering when i was erm.. bathing. Haha. Does everyone needs companion? U know by everyone i mean every single one of us.EVERY. and NEED. And by need, i mean u know need to survive to live like air. Is it so? If so, then why do we see people who are alone in their whole life, though alone still living well?

I always like to think that I am someone who does not mind being alone. Because alone does not surely means lonely. It can be freedom. And peace too. And mind you, sometimes I do like feeling lonely. Strange but yeah T__T.

im very sad. because what i have always fear had happened.

SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE!

I was so pleasantly surprised when i was made to watch L yesterday at Cathay but found out the Kite Runner is still showing! almost full house too!

The movie is qt nice but i will preferred it if it showed the whole story instead of missing out the part about the adoption of Sobrab(shit i tink spell wrongly).Nevertheless though i love the book more, the movie is a good catch.

im glad thats my first movie of the year.

So many people that initially i wanted to go up the A380 to see see but i saw the ants crowd i got turned off. I sweat till i was tired T___T

Police force was so sucky duno how to control crowd. Wah lao. People cut queue for shuttlebus. People booing the police force. Seriously. Initially they were just looking at the crowd not doing anything

i actually wanted to catch the 2.35pm show but i reach orchard about 2.10 so i was thinking maybe i can go shop in zara for like 10mins. but i forgot everything after i stepped inside and i tried some clothes on and when i was paying its already 2.45pm T______________T

i mentioned i got a bad stamina for shopping didn't i?after 30mins of shopping i was already very shag out.so i went home T__T

and i saw Adrian Pang paying in front of me but i wasn't sure it was him. I noticed him bcoz of his very big head and hairstyle. But he smiled at me and said hi that was when i am sure. (i didnt noe i was staring at him trying to decide if its him T___T im such a stalker T___T)

anw this season its all about colours and 80s fashion. Step in all the shops and u see bright colorful bags, shoes, floral print/80s dress, waist jeans. i quite like it =D

This is one of my purchases! i took a look at it and i knew its a must have. i like the blue-ness, the layer-ness, and floral-print-ness. this picture doesnt justify the beauty of it ok.

I have been waiting so long to change my ship but Tang the battlestation fanatic insisted that i waited as there is going to be a new ship system. He told me a month ago.

And the ship system has juz changed yesterday! Now everyone's ship is a level one windrider with 500HP. I see see the ships and got confused where is the port that the ship i wan to buy is located at. So now I will wait for the battlestation guru to change my ship. wahahahahaha

I am at level 50 leh going to be level 51 le but my ship haven change i cant play!actually the days before the reset i was chionging hoping to be level 55 when it restarts so can get the katana.

I wanna watch kite runner tomorrow coz its the last day of showing but i can only do it ALONE.

coz juan watched it and everyone has school except me on wednesday even tang is attached to the stupid Singapore Air Show.

Kite runner is the adaptation of Khaled Hoissaini's book Kite Runner (about bretrayed friendship and how Taliban bring no peace) only showing exclusively at the Cathay and cathay cineleisure and whywhywhy there isnt much advertising about the movie???!!!

The book made me so sad i especially remembered the part where the servant's son's son( i forgot the name obviously i read it two years ago ok) tried to commit sucide as he thought the servant's son's best friend wanted to send him away( his parents died). I say liddat you all wun understand. Must read the book den noe wad i mean.

I haven watch the movie yet but i hope it when give me the same heart-tugging feeling that the book gave me.

and i dun wan to watch it alone coz if i cried in the movie i will looked like some pity friendless midget.

and this is my 1st movie of the year(yes, coz if u wan me to watch ah long pte ltd or kungfu dunk i rather kill myself)

its a jap restaurant like marche concept. u got a card go to different stations to get your food scan the card and pay after the meal.

u can see that the skins look kind of plastic and tasted like it. not much meat and qt not worth it for 5 for 5bucks. i ate one and Tang finished it.hahahhahaha.i think thats y he hates it.

Tang very contradicting wan. when we were eating this i commented that i couldn't taste the crabmeat he said he can. then he complained the crabmeat taste not obvious. I say its due to the mayo lor. i hate mayo.

i forgot wads this called. but look. 2 processed crabmeat and few veggies and very little real crab meat. I say its qt pathetic. 8.50 oso.

i like the prawn bacon though. its my fav. but Tang's is the chicken. not lor the prawn bacon nicer.

New obsession

coz currently i only have maroon.

I tink they are great to pair with anything from ur slutty short shorts/mini skirts to semi-length pants/knee length dress/skirt.

anw anw i landed myself on a tuition assignment for Sec 4 physics and chem 2 days a week 1.5hr each. not exactly very thrilled to be spending 1.5hrs 2 times a week complaining silently that the time pass too slowly coz i rather have one that is 2hrs a week instead.

so at last say hi to new shoes and tights and at last able to pay my hp bill without much worries. and say goodbye to wearing spoil shoes and claiming that i am from a poor family.
